Hobart

— 1 day

Tasmania's Capital City

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
On the 30th (Wed), take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, then stroll through Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, then take in the waterfront at Constitution Dock, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington.

Melbourne to Hobart is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also do a combination of ferry and car; or do a combination of ferry and bus. When traveling from Melbourne in December, plan for little chillier days in Hobart, with highs around 24°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 13°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Wed) so you can catch the flight back home.
