Marvel at the size of Mausoleum of Agostinho Neto, a landmark tower overlooking the sea and the final resting place of independent Angola's first president. The imposing Soviet-style concrete structure stands 120 m (393 ft) tall amidst a 500 m (1,640 ft) long square. Referencing Neto's poem "The Path of the Stars," the monument bears the name of his poetry book "Sacred Hope." Climb the tower for panoramic views of Luanda. The building also houses an exhibit of paintings featuring Dr. Neto, a set of sculptures representing Angolan trades, as well as a collection of photographs of the charismatic leader.
